Triumph Rocket iii Touring 2012
By: Tom Wallace on 13 September 2024I've been looking for affordable replacement shocks for my Triumph R3T in black, and I'd been discouraged looking at other brands mostly due to the what I consider excessive cost. I've spent time reading owner's group comments about which brands and models of shocks users have experience with. Also noticed comments/questions asked about JBS shocks regarding "has anyone installed JBS shocks" on their Rocket? No one said yes. I researched what I could and decided to take a chance with JBs. The limited specifications available didn't really help much but the fact that they are "model specific" and designed specifically for my bike helped. Also the appearance and very attractive price helped as well. i placed my order at the end of June 2024 and received them in the United States (shipped from Australia) one week later. Very fast shipping. I planned to install the new shocks when replacing my rear tire; however, I had to wait to install the shocks because a rear tire that matched my front would not be available for almost two months. While waiting on a tire I measured and checked for proper fit of the shocks. Perfect fit and great looking shocks. The fit and finish is perfect. Finally got a new rear tire in September and went for a ride. Amazing! I'm not a racer or performance expert but the difference in feel and ride quality makes me think I'm riding a completely different machine. Unbelievable improvement in handling. FYI - I'm 5' 10" and weigh 200lbs (178cm and 91kg), and I typically carry around 20lbs (9kg) of assorted junk in my saddlebags. I did not have to add any additional preload adjustment for my current weight. The JBS web site states that the preload is adjustable by hand. Humm...i'm getting old and couldn't budge the adjusters by hand without a tool, so that's my only minor complaint. In my case I didn't need to tighten them anyway. Very, very happy and satisfied with these shocks. FYI - I'm member tywal at R3Owners.net Regards, Tom W
